Magazine and Target Audience Research

When researching my magazine they were a lot of processes i felt were necessary to complete to allow me to have a full understanding of the demographic that i would have to be appealing to.

For a music magazine to be successful they need to cater for their genres. For example:

We Love Pop

We Love Pop – Pop magazine for teen girls. It focuses mainly on celebrities and fashion.

XXL Mag

XXL – Rap magazine. Very serious, all about the artist and looks quite violent.

MixMag

MixMag – Club Music magazine. It’s bright, looks very clean and modern.

Prices of Each Magazine:
  • We Love Pop – £2.99
  • XXL – £5.53

Exploring the Values/ Ideologies of Different Music Magazines

Every magazine has different values and ideologies. These are what makes magazines different and gives them their purpose, for example:
Kerrang!

Kerrang! Front Cover

Values:
  • Bold/ In your face
  • Crazy
  • All about the Artists & Music
  • Informative
  • Punk and Heavy Rock
Magazine:
Kerrang! magazine seems to be more serious about the music and artists because they feature exclusive interviews with the artists, they promote bands, music and advertise opportunities for free merchandise too.
We Love Pop
