Preliminary Tasks

 

The preliminary task that we were given was to create a magazine for our college, New College durham for the students to keep them up to date with news and events within the college. 

This was at the start of the year when my abilities on different programs were severely limited on editng techniques and programs.
I decided to do a large establishing picture of the college to help students realise indefinitely what this is about with it being the first issue. The writng was designed to be large so that the students would notice it.

However due to my lack of understanding regarding sizings and conventions of
magazines the font and pictures were all to long and it looks like it was thrown together without thought or consideration which i noticed when it came to my research for my music magazine
Similarly with the contents page i noticed that there was too much of one colour at the top overlapping which made the writing hard to read. As well as the fact that my text wasnt alligned well and were different sizes.

However at the time the magazine was completed to the best of my ability. I Produced appropriate material for the task by including a student on the front cover and involving the students in the magazine helps to get their attention by speaking to them on their level

I also knew that for the magazine to be effective you need fonts and sizes to vary otherwise you can end up with a very boring looking magazine.

I beleive the register and language i used was appropriate to the audience of the magazine, who are all high acheiving academics

I used my already existing knowledge of ICT to help me in my college magazine i had limited knowledge in photoshop to which i beleive i used rather effectively to create the effects i wanted on different images.

I had to do alot of photographic manilpulation to get my college magazine to look like it does now.
